Saving several statuses at once, without saving everything
Bulk saving is fast and it is how people end up with 400 files they never look at. A middle path.
If you follow a lot of contacts, saving statuses one at a time gets tedious and bulk-saving everything gets expensive. Both extremes are annoying in different ways.
The case for bulk
Sometimes it is exactly right. A friend posts a sequence of twelve photos from an event, and you want all of them. Tapping twelve times to get twelve related images is pointless friction.

The case against doing it by default
Bulk-saving every status you have viewed is how a storage problem starts. A few hundred files accumulate over months, most of them looked at once, all of them in a folder you never open.
The cost is not just space — it is that the ten things you actually wanted are now buried among four hundred you did not.
A middle path
Bulk-save runs, not days. When someone posts a sequence that belongs together, take the sequence. Resist selecting the whole screen because it is there.
Decide at save time, not later. "I'll clear it out eventually" is how the folder gets to 400 files. The moment you are looking at it is the only moment you reliably know whether you want it.
Review quarterly. Sort by size, delete the large videos you have not revisited. Two minutes, and it recovers more than you would guess.
What bulk saving does not do
It cannot reach statuses you have not viewed — those files are not on your phone yet. And it cannot reach expired ones, because WhatsApp has deleted them.
So "save all" means "save all of what I have already watched and is still within 24 hours". Which is usually a much smaller set than people expect, and is why the button feels safer than it is.
