Common questions
The app shows no statuses
Statuses only exist on your device after WhatsApp has downloaded them, so:
- Open WhatsApp and view the statuses first. WhatsApp writes a status file only once you have actually viewed it. Nothing viewed means nothing to save.
- Grant the right folder. On first run the app asks you to select WhatsApp's statuses folder. If you granted the wrong folder — or skipped it — re-grant it from Settings → Storage.
- Statuses expire after 24 hours. WhatsApp deletes the local files when a status expires. Once it is gone from WhatsApp, it cannot be recovered.
- Using WhatsApp Business? Grant that folder too — it is a separate directory.
The folder picker does not show the WhatsApp folder
On Android 11 and later, Android restricts direct access to other apps' folders. Use the picker the app opens and navigate to:
Android → media → com.whatsapp → WhatsApp → Media → .Statuses
For WhatsApp Business, replace com.whatsapp with com.whatsapp.w4b. If .Statuses is not
visible, enable Show hidden files in the picker's overflow menu — the leading dot hides it
by default.
A conversion or compression failed
- Some videos use codecs your device cannot decode. Try a different file to confirm.
- Very large files need free storage for the output. Check available space.
- Keep the app in the foreground while a job runs; some devices aggressively suspend background work.
If one specific file consistently fails, email us and mention its format and rough size.
I bought ad removal but still see ads
- Confirm you are signed in to the same Google account that made the purchase.
- Open the app and let it reach the main screen — the purchase restores on launch.
- Force-stop and reopen the app.
If ads persist, email us with your Google Play order number. See the Refund Policy for your options.
Where are my saved files?
Saved statuses go to your device gallery and appear in the app's Saved tab. Converted and compressed output is saved to your device storage and listed in the same place. Anything you have saved stays on your device after uninstalling — the app does not delete your files for you.
Does my media get uploaded anywhere?
No. Saving, converting, and compressing all happen on your device. The app has no server that receives your files. The app does connect to the internet to load ads and for Google's stability reporting — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what those services receive.
How do I change the language or theme?
Settings → Language (20+ locales) and Settings → Theme (light, dark, or follow system).
