Can you save a WhatsApp status from WhatsApp Web?
Yes, and the method is different from the phone one — because the file lands somewhere else entirely.
WhatsApp Web shows statuses, and people reasonably assume the phone method applies. It does not — the file is not in an Android folder, because there is no Android involved.
Where it goes on desktop
When a status plays in your browser, the media is fetched into the browser's cache. There is no tidy
.Statuses directory to browse.
That makes the phone approach — grant a folder, list the files — inapplicable. A desktop browser does not expose its media cache as something you can navigate meaningfully.
What works
Right-click the media. For status photos this sometimes offers Save image as… directly. Video is usually protected against it.
Use the browser's dev tools. Open the Network panel, filter to media, play the status, and the fetched file appears as a request you can open or save. It works, and it is clearly not a method for everyday use.
Screenshot or screen-record. Crude, lossy, and the fastest thing that always works. For a photo status a screenshot is often genuinely good enough, since the status was already compressed.
The honest recommendation
Do it on the phone. The phone already has the real file sitting in a folder, at the quality WhatsApp delivered, with no re-capture involved. Status Saver copies it in a tap.
