Saving statuses on a tablet or linked device
Linked devices show statuses but store them differently. What works on an Android tablet, and what doesn't.
WhatsApp's multi-device support means a tablet can show your statuses without your phone being nearby. Whether you can save them there is a separate question with a more complicated answer.
Two different setups
WhatsApp installed natively on the tablet, signed in as a linked device — behaves like a phone install. Media downloads into the app's own storage under the same folder structure, and a status saver installed on that tablet can be granted the folder in the usual way.
WhatsApp Web in a tablet browser — no local folder, no Android app storage. The same limitation as any desktop browser: the media lands in a browser cache that nothing can meaningfully browse.
The first works. The second does not.
Checking which you have
If you installed WhatsApp from the Play Store on the tablet and it has its own icon, it is a native install. If you are using a browser tab pointed at web.whatsapp.com, it is not.
The folder on a tablet
Identical to a phone:
Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media/.Statuses
Grant it the same way. Status Saver runs on Android tablets without anything special — it is the same app reading the same path.
What is genuinely different
Sync timing. A linked device downloads status media when you view it there. Viewing a status on your phone does not put the file on your tablet — each device fetches its own copy when it displays it.
So a status you watched on your phone will not appear in the tablet's folder until you watch it on the tablet too, within the 24 hours.
Storage. Tablets often have less free space than the phone, and status media accumulates the same way. Worth checking.
Which device to save on
Whichever one you actually watch statuses on. There is no quality difference — both devices receive the same compressed file from WhatsApp — so it is purely about where you happen to be when you see something worth keeping.
