Dual WhatsApp, cloned apps, and where their statuses go
Second-space and app-cloning features put statuses somewhere a status saver often cannot reach. Why, and what to do.
Phone makers offer various ways to run two WhatsApp accounts — Dual Messenger, Second Space, App Twin, Parallel Apps, Clone App. They all create a problem for status saving, and it is the same problem each time.
What cloning actually does
The clone runs in a separate user profile or work profile with its own isolated storage. Android treats the two instances as different apps belonging to different users.
So the cloned WhatsApp writes its statuses to a folder inside that separate profile — not to the path your main-profile apps can see.
Why your status saver only shows one set
An app installed in your main profile can be granted folders in the main profile. It has no route to another profile's storage, and no permission you can grant changes that — the isolation is the feature.
So you see statuses from whichever WhatsApp lives alongside the saver, and none from the other.
What works
Install the saver inside the same space. Most implementations let you clone other apps too, or install apps within the second space. Put Status Saver in the same profile as the WhatsApp you want to read, and the folder becomes reachable normally.
You can have it in both spaces — they are independent installs.
Or use a file manager within that space, if you would rather not install a second copy. The folder path is the same, just inside that profile.
WhatsApp Business is not this
Worth separating: WhatsApp Business is a different app, not a clone, and both live in your main
profile. That case is solved by granting the second folder —
Android/media/com.whatsapp.w4b/... — and does not need any of the above.
The clone situation is specifically about profiles, which is why the fix is different.
How to tell which you have
If the second WhatsApp appeared through a phone setting named Dual/Clone/Second Space, it is a profile clone. If you installed WhatsApp Business from the Play Store, it is a separate app. The icon badge your manufacturer adds to cloned apps is usually the giveaway.
